Bread from Tampere
Bread from Tampere –web exhibition is produced as a part of the Nordic
project called Norsam: Bröd i Norden. In the project museums from six different
countries examine bread as a part of their national culture. Museums have also
produced digital stories regarding the bread themes. Project participants come
from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland and Estonia. The other digital stories
can be found from the web pages of the Norwegian museums called Maihaugen:
Museum Centre Vapriikki and The Finnish Labour Museum Werstas collaborated
with a shared digital story regarding the bread culture in Tampere region.
Museums went to the Tampere city streets in November/ December 2009 and
interviewed local people regarding their relations to bread. In the video
interviews people are remembering the local traditional bread called rievä
and pondering the status of bread as a part of the packed lunch through time.
